Everyone has had a horrible boss, at one point or another.
The latest film starring Jason Bateman takes horrible bosses to a whole new level. There have been many horrible bosses to grace the big screen, and here's our look at which ones we enjoyed the most. Will any of them be replaced once Horrible Bosses hits theaters this weekend?
Horrible Bosses stars Jason Bateman as a frustrated employee who enlists the help of his friends, who also hate their bosses, to murder their bosses.
Horrible Bosses hits theaters Friday, July 8th 2011.
Friday Five | Worst Movie Bosses

Honorable Mention | Bernie Lomax
Weekend at Bernie's
Granted, Bernie Lomax isn't actually alive for much of Weekend at Bernie's. His horrible attitude and treatment of his two employees, Larry and Richard, help set up the entire film. After his sudden death, these two employees continue to act as though Bernie were still alive, carrying him around like a marionette.
#4 | Gordon Gekko
Wall Street
Gordon Gekkow as such a horrible boss that Michael Douglas won an Oscar for portraying the character, who was then later given a sequel just to dive deeper into his ruthlessness. Written to emphasize just how ruthless and cutthroat wall street can be, Gekko is the epitome of greed.
#3 | Les Grossman
Tropic Thunder
Tom Cruise might have been having a blast acting as the ugly, dark, and deeply disturbed Grossman, but audiences certainly weren't in love with his ethics. Grossman, a movie producer in Tropic Thunder, cared more about his profits than he did the lives of his employees. Grossman was so much fun to laugh at, that there have been talks of Cruise repraising the role for a standalone film.
#2 | Franklin M Hart Jr
9 to 5
The film 9 to 5 really set a standard when it comes to office shenanigans. Office workers Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton all had to suffer the rants and sexual advances of boss Franklin Hart Jr. Dabney Coleman carried the part perfectly, playing a perfectly sleezy and disgusting Hart. These women go so far as to kidnap and capture Hart, forcing changes in their workplace.
#1 | Miranda Priestly
The Devil Wears Prada
There simply isn't a more horrible boss than Miranda Priestly. She goes out of her way to make her employees lives miserable, creating one scary and intimidating workplace. She may alter her view on life after hiring Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway), but there's a reason the title of the film refers to her as a devil.
