Perfect Week for a Date Night

August continues with solid home video releases.

Finally making its way to home video after several successful weeks among the box office top ten is Date Night.  Steve Carell and Tina Fey's latest comedy venture.  The duo are a New York suburban couple who rarely have excitement in their family lives, until the pair decide to go into the city for a dinner date.

After a mistaken identity situation, the pair end up running around New York City trying to elude evil-doers and save their marriage all at the same time.  Date Night offers decent laughs, and is miles better than any of those Katherine Heigl rom-coms of late.

Also releasing on home video today is the American remake of Death at a Funeral.  The movie stars Chris Rock and is easily his best comedy in years.  Death at a Funeral has a long list of famous cast members, including Danny Glover, Martin Lawrence, and Tracy Morgan.  Rock plays a grieving son who's father has passed.  Family gathers for the funeral, and everything goes horribly, horribly wrong.

Demi Moore's latest, The Joneses, finds a home on video after a horrible limited run in theaters, but positive remarks from critics (including GotchaMovies).  It had a budget of $10 Million and during 13 weeks in theaters managed to make back only $1.45 Million.  The Joneses also stars David Duchovny as Demi's fake husband, as the fake couple pretend to be a married family in order to sell other rich couples on expensive and unnecessary possessions.

Also releasing to home video is Triage and Letters to God.  Triage stars Colin Farrell and Paz Vega, and is the story of a woman who gets caught up in the controversy of her husband's last assignment as a photojournalist.  Letters to God is the true story of Tyler Doherty, a child with cancer who writes (and mails) prayer letters to God.
