Sony's handhled gaming cell phone, the Xperia Play, will officially hit the UK on March 31st.
We first brought word of the Xperia Play back in November, which was later confirmed by Sony near the end of January. Sony has done a fantastic job of keeping their gaming phone under wraps, and has just officially announced that it will be released in the UK on March 31st. The official announcement doesn't say anything about a U.S. release, but a safe guess is that it will follow soon after the UK release.
The Xperia Play will come preloaded with six different Playstation 1 games.
A mobile carrier had not yet been announced, though it is now said that the device will be available on 'all mobile providers and retailers.' Original speculation had the device releasing only on Verizon here in the U.S., so a much broader release overseas could mean the same for the U.S.
We'll bring you more updates on the device as they come in.
