In Thunderbolts 2025, a new team of antiheroes is assembled to tackle the threats the world’s governments are too afraid to face. Led by the enigmatic and unpredictable U.S. government operative, Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, the Thunderbolts are a group of outcasts, reformed villains, and morally ambiguous heroes, each with their own dark past and a chance at redemption—or destruction.
The story begins as a series of global incidents—dangerous experiments gone wrong, supervillains turned rogue, and high-tech weapons falling into the wrong hands—force the government to realize they can no longer rely on traditional heroes or the Avengers. In a desperate bid to maintain control, they form the Thunderbolts, a covert team tasked with cleaning up messes that the rest of the world would rather forget.
The team consists of:
- Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier), haunted by his past and seeking peace, but still struggling to control the killer within him.
- Yelena Belova, a highly trained Black Widow with a personal vendetta and a thirst for justice on her own terms.
