Earth Day may be over but when it comes to going green, sustainability is a year round effort. Shrek Forever After, the final chapter in the story of a beloved ogre from “far far away,” opens everywhere this Friday and sustainability campaigns are popping up encouraging people to “go green like Shrek.”
On Monday, UCLA’s campus sustainability organization teamed up with Dreamworks to bring a Go Green with Shrek workshop to students. Volunteers gave out Shrek Forever After items and picked three winners for VIP screening passes to the film all while educating students on sustainability and saving the environment.
Another promotion, held in Rome, Georgia, followed up the Great American Cleanup and offered a contest for those who have gone green like Shrek. Entries were accepted from all ages and winners were awarded prizes and tickets to Shrek Forever After screenings.
Dreamworks has made a smart move teaming up with trending efforts to go green, a cause not yet in the spotlight when the first Shrek movie was released almost a decade ago. You can catch Shrek in all his ogre greenness this Friday.
