Kick-Ass comes out this week and yes, there’s an app for that.
There has been a ton of buzz around today’s release of a new type of super hero movie, Kick-Ass. The trailer boasts no extreme effects and no A-list stars (sorry Nicholas Cage, but your time has come and gone). It’s just a story of a couple of citizens who feel empowered to become their own heroes. It’s violent, vulgar, and most appealing of all, down to earth, which makes this one last marketing ploy make so much sense.
There is now a Kick-Ass site that uses Facebook Connect to allow you and your friends to transform yourselves into superheroes. You can revamp your current uploaded pictures by adding props and name titles. From there you can share it will all of your friends as well as enter a contest to be featured in an upcoming comic book. The app makes a lot of sense with the stories central plot, average Joe’s who go from zero to hero. Not to mention the tons of free advertising this could get the film if the app catches on.
Kick-Ass opens in theaters today, so jazz up your profile pic, update your status, and head to the theater.
